A Life Worth Living
Dubai has become synonymous with great city living. Every kind of entertainment and convenience is at your doorstep, be it shopping, cinema, eating out or sport. We only deal with properties that suit this lifestyle. Our properties are hugely spacious in comparison with other major cities around the world, and they have every mod con imaginable. Then there is the added bonus of being surrounded by like-minded individuals. Making new friends to suit your new lifestyle has never been so easy.
Family Retreats
Dubai isn't just about fast living, however. The perfect family retreat must be an apartment by the sea, and we have a property to make every dream come true. Apartments on the Palm are large, private, safe and built to last. All have excellent facilities, from high speed Internet connections to covered car parking. Some complexes provide a daily maid service, shared or private swimming pools, squash and tennis courts. Every kind of furniture or household device is available in Dubai's excellent shopping malls and arcades.
The Shopping
Dubai already has an international reputation for the cheapest and best shopping in the world, but there is more to shopping here than that. There may be huge mega-malls with every high street store and designer brand, but the fun really starts when you explore the markets and wholesale warehouses that make this a shoppers paradise. Being at the centre of world trade means beautiful arts and crafts are available at rock bottom prices, only 5% import tax means everything is incredibly cheap.
The Children
Children have fun in Dubai. From water parks and circuses to go-kart racing, there are things to do for every age outside of school. Schooling itself is excellent. Dubai has a thoroughly modern network of 85 private schools offering education of a high standard to the curriculum requirements of the UK, USA, Italy, Japan, Iran, India and Pakistan. Similarly, the Government provides quality, heavily subsidized medical care to all visitors and residents, while there are several extremely good private hospitals offering high quality health and dental care. Emergency medical care in Dubai is free for anyone and there are no restrictions.
The Car
If Detroit is The Motor City, then Dubai is The Land of The Luxury Car. There are more beautiful, brand spanking-new cars per person in Dubai than almost anywhere else. Why? Because they are far cheaper to buy or rent than other cities; because the roads are fantastic to drive on; and because international licenses can be used by visitors, or swapped for local licenses by residents (you can also can take a test at one of many good driving schools). Most families have two cars. Driving is on the right hand side of the road.
The Restaurants, Bars and Nightclubs
Gordon Ramsey has a restaurant here, as does Michel Destang, but if Michelin Star chefs mean nothing, you will still be amazed by the diversity and quality of bars and restaurants in Dubai. From classic Irish boozers to English sports pubs, or chic DJ bars at the top of skyscrapers, there are thousands of places to go out for the night. Chinese take-aways compete with Lebanese eateries and brilliant Indian curry houses. Fine dining Italian or French style? It's all here - restaurants for budgets of a few dollars, or a thousand dollars. There are huge night clubs to polish off any evening's excess, and big name pop and dance acts appear almost weekly from Britain, the US, India and Pakistan.
The Hotels
Dubai is very unlike most cities on earth because the bulk of ones entertainment needs are met in five star hotels. It is here that the best restaurants and bars exist, as well as some of the finest shopping and certainly the finest spas. With Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriot, Intercontinental, Hyatt, Holiday Inn and Jumeirah International hotel management companies all represented in gorgeous properties (some have several to their name in the city as well as on the beach), it is hard to get used to service at home after a stint of entertaining in Dubai.
An ever growing portfolio of spectacular, world-class hotels from the Jumeirah International Group, which consistently win global awards for being the ultimate in luxury and for their hard-to-miss architecture. For example: the Emirates Towers, rises 350 metres (1,148 feet), making it the tallest building in the Middle East and Europe, and 10th tallest in the world. And the '6 Star' Burj Al Arab Hotel, which boasts the world's largest Atrium lobby, and is called the most luxurious hotel in the world.
This month, they'll be joined by Madinat Jumeirah, the region's first 'Grand Boutique Hotel'. Scheduled to open fully in Autumn 2004, it will be a more complex and extensive hotel/leisure development than any the world has seen in the last 25 years.
The Sports
Sports play a central role in Dubai life. The world-class Nad Al Sheba Racecourse hosts the most expensive race - the Dubai World Cup - and many people living in Dubai are involved in racing, either through owning a horse (if that sounds too much, there are many ownership syndicates for the hobbyist) or working at the track. Polo is another major sporting attraction, with properties being developed along the polo theme. Dubai hosts the annual International Rugby Sevens Tournament, the World Tennis Championships, World Formula One Power Boat Championships and a full variety of other sporting events. European and American sport is shown on most satellite networks and in most large bars.
The Sun
Year-round sun - soaked up on clean white-sand beaches - you can't beat it. Dubai has outstanding beaches, the majority fully accessible to the public. Take an early morning stroll and chat to people walking the dog or exercising. Sunbathe among well tended palm trees on public beaches, or among manicured hotel gardens cascading to the shoreline. Jetski or paraglide. Leave the evenings free for a promenade or a well earned dip. Nice.
The Friends
Dubai has a massive expat population, but, unlike most people's home towns, Dubai residents are extremely friendly. It takes some people time to adjust to this new way of living, but people tend to work and play hard here - strong bonds are quick to build.
Stay in Touch
The United Arab Emirates, and Dubai in particular, has the highest per capita Internet penetration of anywhere outside of Europe or South Korea. Cheap and reliable broadband connections are available to homes and offices. Internet cafes dot the city. The local mobile phone network is superbly run and reasonably priced. Service is excellent. International networks are available on roaming. There is an efficient and reliable postal service and every major international courier company is represented. Cable and satellite television is standard. Several huge cinema complexes show all the current international blockbusters. There are four English language daily newspapers published locally, as are many local, English-language lifestyle and business magazines (such as Time Out Dubai, Emirates Woman and Arabian Business). A raft of different international newspapers, magazines and journals are available in many languages in the city's bookshops and supermarkets.
